Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 3, 2026

OneLine Journal ("the app") is developed by Binshad Karekkatt Basheer. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it's used.

What we collect

Account info — only if you sign in. If you choose to sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or Apple's private relay email, if you choose to hide it) and a unique account ID. If you use the app as a guest, no account information is collected — an anonymous ID is generated on your device.

Journal entries. Entries you write are encrypted on your device (AES-256-GCM) before they are ever sent to our servers. We store only the encrypted ciphertext, tied to your account ID — we cannot read the contents of your entries.

Basic usage diagnostics. The app may use Firebase Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymized app usage (e.g. how many people use a feature). This is not linked to the content of your journal entries.

What we don't do

Encryption & multi-device notice

Because your encryption key lives only on your device, entries written before you set up a new device can't be decrypted on that new device unless you restore an encrypted backup (e.g. via iCloud or Finder) of your original device. Setting up a new device from scratch generates a new key.

Your choices

Delete a single entry — available any time from within the app.

Delete everything — Settings → Delete All Data / Delete Account permanently erases your entries and (if signed in) your account. This cannot be undone.

Sign out / switch accounts — available from Settings.

Children's privacy

OneLine Journal is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date.
